The Canucks goaltender has been taking part in Movember, an annual event where participants grow moustaches throughout November to raise money and awareness for men’s health issues, since the beginning of the month, but it wasn’t apparent until he downsized from beard to moustache in Anaheim on November 9th.
Why did it take Miller so long to let his mo show? For one he was in the midst of a ridiculous seven-game win streak and routine rules the day in those circumstances.
Secondly, “I wasn’t feeling this mo very much, I wanted to give it a chance to really get some length.”
Miller isn’t about the clean shave, he’s about mo style. Last year he described his look as “evil hipster;” he could twirl the sides up and was a villainous laugh away from tying a damsel in distress to railroad tracks with the 6:10 express running right on time.
“This year I look like a ‘70s cop and I’m not digging it as much,” laughed Miler.
The greater good thinks it looks great.
Miller is the captain of the Canucks Movemer Team, with Eddie Lack, Shawn Matthias, Nick Bonino and Luca Sbisa also putting their razors aside in the name of men’s health.
We’re midway through Movember and the stashes are blossoming something fierce and have raised nearly $1,000, with the Canucks group overall bringing in almost $3,500. That being said, the Montreal Canadiens, our Movember foes, are up to $1,800 for players and $20,000 overall, as you can see from the infographic below put together by the great Habs web team.
Fear not, there’s still time to catch, pass and defeat the Canadiens and it starts now.
“My stash is the secret weapon,” boasted Shawn Matthias, who was looking noticeably more mo on Monday. “A little Just For Men goes a long way when you have a blonde stash like I do. I feel like we started slow, but we’re really in this competition now.”
Less than two weeks remain in our Movember battle and in Movember overall, so grow, donate or simply spread the word. #MoCanucks
