Reports to: Director, Retail & Consumer Products Marketing
SUMMARY: The Retail Operations Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the store, kiosks, warehouse and concerts/events. This position is also responsible for hiring, training, coaching and developing the store management team while meeting and exceeding sales and profitability objectives set by the Retail Director. The Retail Operations Manager is to provide support to the store management team through marketing initiatives, sales incentive programs, customer service training, and new business opportunities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Store Operations
  • Oversees warehouse operations
  • IT troubleshooter and liaison between IT support company and internal IT department regarding Point of Sale System
  • Works with Retail Buyer and Store Manager on developing all sales and inventory management reports
  • Implements and develops store audit reports on a quarterly basis to maintain consistency, a superior level of service and store presentation
  • Ensures policies and procedures are communicated to the retail management team and reviewed on a daily/weekly and yearly basis
Visual Merchandising
  • Works with Retail Buyer in executing visual guidelines/standards and communicates expectations to retail operations team
Customer Service and Sales Training
  • Develops and implements sales training manual for retail business
  • Provides ongoing sales and service training to the event staff and operations management team
  • Develops and executes all seasonal sales contests and incentive programs for retail team
Marketing/Advertising /Events
  • Works with Retail Director on developing yearly marketing calendar and provides support on an event by event basis on each market initiative
  • Develops grass roots promotions to drive traffic to store during off season
Human Resource Management
  • Oversees the hiring, training, coaching and motivating of the Retail Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, Retail Supervisors and Shipper/Receiver
  • Monitors staffing levels compared to wage cost and communicates monthly results to retail managers
  • Works closely with Human Resources regarding employee issues
  • Develops and updates staff employee manuals
Concert/Event Management
  • Liaises with Event Services and Event Sales & Marketing staff regarding event details such as expected attendance levels, merchandise deals, and internal and external event contacts
  • Works with external merchandiser to arrange check-in time, explain Vancouver retail environment, event reconciliation and payment, and destination details
  • Oversees retail team during events and concerts
General
  • Conducts retail competitive analyses

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Diploma or Degree in related discipline (e.g. Business, Marketing & Sales)
  • A minimum 5 years retail management
  • Excellent knowledge of retail industry, with a sporting goods background preferred
  • Solid computer skills and knowledge of POS systems (inventory management systems)
  • Sales driven and detailed orientated
  • Ability to read and interpret financial reports
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize as projects arise
  • Strong interpersonal & team skills to establish cooperative working relationships with a variety of internal and external clients
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, and ability to handle multiple projects and tasks
  • Ability to supervise and inspire staff
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
