Position:Marketing Coordinator

Reports to: Director, Brand Management
Term: March 2009- approximately March 2010

The Marketing Coordinator will work closely with the Director, Brand Management and Marketing Manager in developing and implementing marketing and promotional initiatives designed to promote awareness, and revenues for all Canucks programs.

(other duties may be assigned as required)

  • Work with the Director, Brand Management and Marketing Manager to develop and manage marketing and promotional initiatives
  • Develop and edit content, copy and script for various marketing and promotional initiatives
  • Develop and execute a marketing plan for the management, growth and development of the Canucks digital properties including the Inside Edge, Podcasting and Canucks Music Project
  • Manage content, schedule and tracking for all Inside Edge email communications (i.e. pre and post game, weekly report, breaking news, contests)
  • Coordinate online contests, including planning, promotion, execution and follow-up
  • Manage podcasting content, tracking and promotions with the Director, Website & New Media
  • Work closely with Business Development to develop potential marketing opportunities for sponsors, monitor activation and ensure consistent tracking
  • Oversee and manage media drops throughout the season including budget and determining key times
  • Create/develop a promotional calendar which outlines the Canucks home schedule along with promotional elements associated with each game, and assist in the planning, development and execution of a marketing strategy for each promotional initiative
  • Administer the Rogers Sportsnet Promos – content, scheduling, communication and tracking, including careful consideration of sponsorship requirements
  • Oversee and manage all marketing-related promotional tickets, merchandise and giveaways throughout the season
  • Assess and measure impact/effectiveness of various promotions by monitoring ticket sales and attendance; keep a log of promotional activities, report results and attendance figures and report these numbers to the Director, Brand Management on a regular basis
  • Establish positive working relationships with counterparts at our radio, television, and newspaper media partners in order to maximize the exposure and effectiveness of marketing and promotional initiatives and ensure that contractual obligations are fulfilled
  • Assist with special team-related events, such Open Practices, Superskills, First Strides and Training Camp
  • Work with the Director, Brand Management and the Manager, Creative Services to produce the team pocket schedule; coordinate with Business Development, Pacific Press, Ticketmaster, and Guest Services to ensure delivery of pocket schedules to our key partners and within General Motors Place
  • Conduct research from time to time in support of marketing and ticketing initiatives, and generate reports detailing the information and our results compared to those of other NHL teams

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a similar capacity
  • A degree or diploma in commerce, marketing, communications or related field
  • Experience working in media, specifically in the area of promotions and marketing
  • Experience in advertising and the coordination of special events
  • A solid understanding of all forms of media (print, outdoor, radio, Internet, and TV)
  • An ability to manage promotional calendars, advertising and production budgets, media inventory, and production schedules
  • Established working relationships with the various media groups in BC is an asset
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills a must
  • Solid work ethic with desire to contribute maximum effort to achieving team goals and revenue targets
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by event and promotions schedule
