Position:Marketing Assistant

Reports to: Marketing Manager
Term: Effective immediately for approximately 6 months

SUMMARY: The Marketing Assistant will work closely with the Marketing Manager and Marketing Coordinator to implement Canucks Sports & Entertainment promotional initiatives.

(other duties may be assigned as required)

  • In collaboration with the Director, Brand Management and the Assistant, Client Service & Ticket Operations, ensure that all contra and "comp plus" ticket deals are administered to the satisfaction of our media partners
  • Coordinate meeting logistics for Director, Brand Management, including booking meeting rooms, ordering lunches, coordinating A/V requirements, etc.
  • Facilitate ordering and sending out “Thank You” gifts/cards and holiday season cards
  • Develop, implement and maintain an organized central Marketing filing system
  • Coordinate all marketing-related promotional tickets, merchandise and giveaways throughout the season
  • Coordinate content, schedule and tracking for all E-News communications and organize online contests, including planning, promotion, execution and follow-up
  • Write, edit and execute all newsletters for E-News database
  • Research events, websites, and promotions in other markets and leagues
  • Administer the Rogers Sportsnet and Pay-Per-View Promos – content, scheduling, communication and tracking, including careful consideration of sponsorship requirements
  • Develop and execute a plan for media drops throughout the season, which includes determining key dates/events, outlining level of communication (e.g. on-air personalities vs. media partners only), pre-ordering and assembling appropriate gifts and communication pieces
  • Execute promotion of ticketing initiatives with Ticketmaster
  • Distribute promotional posters (e.g. elevators, concourses, HSBC schedule posters)
  • Oversee the updating of the external matrix board
  • Oversee all contests – work with student associate to follow up with contest winners (E-News, Fan Club, Canucks TV Pay-Per-View, Mobile), make initial contact, ensure waiver is completed and coordinate delivery of prizes.
  • Proof ads and promotional materials
  • Ensure that PNG ad tracking spreadsheet and calendar is up to date and book print ads

  • Minimum of one year experience working in media and advertising, specifically in the areas of promotions and marketing
  • A diploma or certificate in commerce, marketing, communications, business or related field is preferred
  • A good understanding of all forms of media (print, outdoor, radio, TV, web)
  • A good understanding of internet marketing and communication
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point, and MS Outlook
  • An understanding of HTML basic coding an asset
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by event and promotions schedule
