SUMMARY: The Director, Community Partnerships provides leadership and direction to the Community Partnerships staff and is responsible for developing and executing the Team’s community outreach plans and programs by bringing the team into off-ice, out of arena contact with its fans, and through the Canucks for Kids Fund’s charity initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In conjunction with the Vice President, Communications & Community Partnerships, creates and executes the overall community partnerships strategy for the Vancouver Canucks Hockey Club
  • Executes strategies as outlined in the business plan for Community Partnerships’ participation in the Company reaching ticket sales, sales strategies and revenue goals
  • Develops the Teams community outreach plan, including the redevelopment of educational programs, support for grassroots hockey development through the Centre of Excellence and charitable initiatives
  • Works with the VP, Communications & Community Partnerships to enhance media exposure and the community profile of the Vancouver Canucks Hockey Club and to ensure appropriate team internal/external communications relating to community and fund activities
  • Integrates Community Partnerships’ efforts with the overall marketing and promotional strategies of the company
  • Provides leadership and direction to Community Partnerships staff and manages the Community Partnership budget
  • Leads initiatives to recruit participation of Canucks Sports & Entertainment staff in volunteering their support of the Canucks for Kids Fund and its projects
  • Works with other departments to coordinate and direct the branding and imaging of our Team in the community and through the website
  • Works closely with the Centre of Excellence to develop their overall work plan and ensure our financial commitment to the Centre is met each year
  • Oversees all corporate charitable partnerships and corporate giving plans
  • Pre-screens, selects and executes player and hockey management appearances in the community
  • Works with Canucks Alumni to ensure team partnership and assistance in promoting their efforts in the community
  • Participates as a member of the company’s Leadership Team

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5-7 years’ community relations experience, with several years’ related industry experience
  • A degree in marketing, communications, business administration or related field
  • Experience with not for profit governance and operating models
  • Proven abilities in donor relations
  • Superior planning, organizational and administrative skills
  • Ability to effectively lead, develop and inspire staff
  • Ability to handle conflicting deadlines and priorities
  • Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Must have the ability to relate professionally to all levels of staff, management, clientele, suppliers, and media.
  • Demonstrated speech writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, as required
