Term: May 2011 – August 2011

SUMMARY: The Creative Services Department provides graphic design and production support for a variety of departments throughout Canucks Sports & Entertainment including Marketing, Community Relations, Business Development and Event Services. This position offers students and recent graduates a tremendous opportunity to work in the professional sports industry, gaining valuable experience, contacts and knowledge of the industry.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • All candidates applying must be current students or recent graduates of a post-secondary institution studying graphic design or related field
  • Priority will be given to candidates able to work full time hours (37.5 hours/week)
  • Along with a resume, candidates must supply a design portfolio in PDF format or via website

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(other duties may be assigned as required)

  • Work with Graphic Designers to create promotional material including advertisements, brochures and posters
  • Assist Creative Services team with file and photo requests
  • Support Production Coordinator with administrative duties such as docket organization, file backup and maintaining archive database
  • Assist Image Resource Coordinator with sourcing photos and organizing, scanning and archiving historical images

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign
  • One year post-secondary training in graphic design and desktop publishing

KEY ATTRIBUTES:

  • Keen interest for working in the sports industry
  • Knowledge of the sport of hockey or the Vancouver Canucks an asset
  • A good understanding of all forms of print and digital media
  • Positive can-do attitude, good at taking initiative
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organization skills, copyediting / proofing skills an asset
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
