Term: January 4, 2010 – April 30, 2010

SUMMARY: . The Accountant will work closely with the Assistant Controller, Arena on the financial work involved with the 2010 Olympics and other projects within the Canucks Sports & Entertainment (“CSE”) Finance Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

(other duties may be assigned as required)

  • Review and/or prepare accounting source documents and reports including account reconciliations, journal entries, allocations, invoices and cheques
  • Provide support to the payroll department related to CSE hourly staff performing duties associated with the 2010 Olympics
  • Provide support to accounts payable and accounts receivable as needed
  • Work with Canucks for Kids Fund to facilitate the VANOC 50/50 draws in 3 venues
  • Manage CSE’s 2010 Olympic retail contract from a finance perspective
  • Assist in the preparation of the next CSE fiscal operating budget
  • Assist with Canuck season ticket renewal and playoff ticketing
  • Assist in financial matters related to other companies within the CSE group of companies as required, including reconciliations and special projects

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & ABILITIES:
  • 2 to 3 years general accounting with experience in preparing financial statements and account analysis
  • Enrollment in a recognized accounting program (i.e. CGA, CMA – 3rd level) preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel, MS Word, Outlook, and accounting systems
  • Knowledge of Sun Systems an asset
  • Must be highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Speed and accuracy in data entry
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to effectively communicate financial results to various members of the CSE management team
  • Must be a team player with a strong customer service focus
