The always personable Dennis Ververgaert was back at GM Place to meet fans at the last Alumni signing of the 2009-2010 season. The Canucks first round draft pick of ’73 was extremely well received as fans lined up for the opportunity to meet two time NHL All Star.
Ververgaert made a stop in to the CTV suite to chat with guests during the first intermission. Teck Resources Ltd suite also received a visit from Ververgaert who were excited to meet the former right winger.
A native of Grimsby Ontario Ververgaert had a huge junior season scoring 147 points in 1972/73 before being chosen third overall in the 1973 NHL entry draft by the Canucks. With size and skill on his side Ververgaert played 6 seasons for the Canucks, registering 392 points in 583 games. He had a career best in 75/76 with 71 points in 80 games. Ververgaert was a part of the Philadelphia Flyers 35 game unbeaten streak in 79/80. He also played for the NHL’s Washington Capitals before retiring in 1981. Ververgaert now resides in Vancouver and is an active member of the Vancouver Canucks Alumni.
