Turning it around.

Two big victories over the Rochester Americans this past week have the Utica Comets (4-10-1-1) on a bit of roll. Winners of four of their last six, the Comets were able to pick up their first ever win on home ice and also recorded the first shutout in franchise history.

Weekly Results

- Grenier took a nice centering feed from Darren Archibald and was able to bang home his fifth goal of the season.
- Mullen ripped home a one-timer that appeared to be sailing high but tucked itself nicely underneath the crossbar.

Saturday, November 23rd: Utica Comets 2 – Rochester Americans 0

- Yannick Weber finished off some nice passing at the point with Henrik Tommernes and buried a wrist shot for the game-winner at the midway mark of the first period.
- Darren Archibald added some insurance midway through the third period as he banged in his own rebound for his second goal of the season. The goal was created by strong play along the boards from Alexandre Grenier, who then showed off some dangles before hitting Archibald with a pass.
- Eriksson made 33 saves to record his first career AHL shutout.
- Patrick Mullen dropped the mitts with Americans forward Kevin Porter after Porter ran over Tommernes.

Comet of the Week

Alexandre Grenier and Patrick Mullen deserve some consideration, but the Comet of the Week goes to goaltender Joacim Eriksson. In two starts he had two wins, posted a goals-against average of 1.00 along with a .962 save-percentage and a shutout. After a slow start to the season, it appears the Gavle, Sweden product is starting to get on a roll as he has won four of his last six games, allowing two goals or fewer in five of those contests.

Coming Up...

The Comets host the Lake Erie Monsters (9-7-0-1) on Tuesday night before they make their way out to British Columbia as they take on the Abbotsford Heat (17-5-0-1) on Friday and Saturday night.
