Canucks wives and significant others sell prize balloons to help fill empty stockings

by Staff Writer / Vancouver Canucks

Vancouver, BC - Vancouver Canucks wives and significant others are helping to fill empty stockings at two Canucks home games by participating in a very special fundraiser for The Province Empty Stocking Fund. The first event goes Tuesday, November 29th and the second on Tuesday, December 6th at Rogers Arena.

Balloon sales will be conducted by Canucks wives and significant others on the concourse in sections 111 and 311. A limited number of balloons will be sold for $20 a "pop" during the first intermission. Great prizes such as signed Canucks photos will be available to those who participate. Full proceeds will go to The Province Empty Stocking Fund.

“It’s really special for us to be involved and help out BC communities that are so supportive of what our significant others do,” said Andrea Kesler, wife of Canucks centreman Ryan Kesler. “Canucks fans are very generous and always supportive of this event.”

Empty Stocking Fund volunteers will also be collecting donations from fans at entrances, on the concourses and in the suites. Last year at this fundraiser, the Canucks wives and significant others, along with Empty Stocking Fund volunteers raised more than $17,000. The Province Empty Stocking Fund funds Christmas initiatives at 27 non-profit community organizations throughout BC. Money raised during the 2011 campaign will go to designated Christmas Bureaus, Salvation Army units and other worthwhile community organizations throughout BC who in turn provide assistance, such as toys, clothing and food for those in need at Christmas.
