Vancouver, BC - Vancouver Canuck wives and significant others are helping to fill empty stockings by participating in a very special fundraiser for The Province Empty Stocking Fund at two Canuck home games. The first event goes tonight, November 26th and the second on Wednesday, December 8 at Rogers Arena. The ladies will raise money for BC families and others in need at Christmas Balloon sales will be conducted by Canucks wives and girlfriends on the concourse in sections 111 and 326. A limited number of balloons will be sold for $20 a "pop" during the first intermission. Great prizes such as signed Canuck photos will be available to those who participate. Full proceeds will go to The Province Empty Stocking Fund.
“It’s really special for us to be involved and help out BC communities that are so supportive of what our significant others do,” said Emily Tracy, fiancée of Tanner Glass. “Canuck fans are very generous and always supportive of this event. People line up to donate and get a prize, and then line right up to get another.”
Empty Stocking Fund volunteers will also be collecting donations from fans at entrances, on the concourses and in the suites.
Since 1994, the Canucks wives and significant others have been participating in this fundraising initiative in order to help make a difference to many BC families and others in need around the holiday season. Through their efforts they have helped raise over $170,000 for The Province Empty Stocking Fund. Last year the Canucks' better halves, along with Empty Stocking Fund volunteers raised more than $14,000. The Province Empty Stocking Fund funds Christmas initiatives at 27 non-profit community organizations throughout BC. Money raised during the 2010 campaign will go to designated Christmas Bureaus, Salvation Army units and other worthwhile community organizations throughout BC who in turn provide help, such as toys, clothing and food for those in need at Christmas.
