by Staff Writer / Vancouver Canucks

VANCOUVER, B.C. – Prior to their game on April 7th versus Minnesota, the Vancouver Canucks will unveil a permanent outdoor tribute to former Vancouver Canucks Assistant Coach Roger Neilson. The ceremony will begin at 6:00 pm on the North Plaza at Rogers Arena (corner of Expo Boulevard and Abbott Street). Fans and media are invited to watch the public unveil.

Fans attending the Canucks game that evening are encouraged to bring a white towel to cheer on Vancouver and honour the memory of Roger Neilson.

Following the ceremony, the Vancouver Canucks will honour the former Assistant Coach throughout the night’s game as part of the 40th Anniversary’s Roger Neilson night. The Vancouver Canucks 40th Anniversary, presented by Chevrolet, HSBC Bank Canada, and Save-On-Foods, is a season long celebration that has honoured the most significant Canucks and events since the inception of the team. By the end of the 2010.11 season, the Vancouver Canucks will have worn their original sweater for five games, launched the Ring of Honour, unveiled ’40 Stories-40 Nights’ celebrating Canucks heroes and highlights at each home game, and retired Markus Naslund’s number 19.
