Canucks sign free agent forward Eric Walsky

Vancouver, B.C. – Vancouver Canucks General Manager Mike Gillis announced today that the Canucks have signed free agent forward Eric Walsky of Colorado College. In keeping with club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.


Walsky, 24, spent 2008.09 with Colorado College of the NCAA. In 38 games, Walsky finished second in team scoring with 36 points (12-24-36).

“Eric is a mature, skilled forward with tremendous skating and puck-handling abilities,” said Mike Gillis. “We look forward to having him joining our organization and beginning his development in professional hockey.”

The Anchorage, Alaska, native played 41 games in 2007.08, collecting 20 points (12-8-20) to help Colorado College finish first in the WCHA and become MacNaughton Cup team champions.

Prior to joining Colorado College, the 5’11” forward played in 51 games with the University of Alaska-Anchorage, posting 22 points (6-16-22).
