Canucks Select Taylor Ellington in 2nd Round

Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks Senior Vice-President and General Manager Dave Nonis announced today that the Canucks have selected defenceman Taylor Ellington in the second round, 33rd overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Ellington, 18, played the last three seasons with the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League. The 6?2?, 208-pound defenceman recorded five goals, eight assists (5-8-13) and 65 penalty minutes in 60 games played over the 2006-07 season with Everett.

The Victoria, B.C. native helped the Silvertips capture the U.S. Division title during regular season play and advance to the Semi-Final of the 2007 WHL Playoffs recording one goal and two penalty minutes in six post season appearances. Ellington played for Team WHL at the 2006 Canada-Russia Challenge.
