Canucks Select Patrick White in the 1st Round of the 2007 Entry Draft

Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks Senior Vice-President and General Manager Dave Nonis announced today that the Canucks have selected centre Patrick White in the first round, 25th overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

White, 18, split the 2006-07 season between Tri-City (USHL) and Grand Rapids (High – MN). The 6’1”, 190 lbs centre played in 12 games for Tri-City, registering nine points (8-1-9) and four penalty minutes. As a member of Grand Rapids, White recorded 11 goals and 25 assists, for a total of 36 points, and 16 penalty minutes in 17 games played.

The Grand Rapids, Minnesota native was named the Associated Press Player of the Year for Minnesota boys hockey in 2007 and to the All-Tournament Team of the Class AA State championship after leading his team to the title game for the second consecutive year. White was also selected to play in the 2007 Under-18 World Championships.
