Prospects being Sept. 7, veterans Sept. 12
The beginning of the 2009-10 NHL season got a little closer today as the Vancouver Canucks outlined its training camp schedule.
Prospects camp begins on September 7th when players will report to GM Place for medicals and testing.
Over the next two days the prospects will be put through vigorous on and off-ice drills at the University of British Columbia’s Thunderbird Winter Sports Centre and both days are open to the public, free of charge.
A prospects tournament is scheduled for Sept. 9 and 10 in Edmonton, where the Canucks will battle the up and coming Oilers at the University of Alberta.
Any prospects lucky enough to make Vancouver’s main camp will have their work cut out for them and the fun begins on Sept. 12th when veterans report for medicals and testing.
Main camp will take place at UBC from Sept. 13 to 16, with the Canucks jet setting to Terrace, BC on the 14th to take on the John Tavares and the New York Islanders as part of the Kraft Hockeyville celebrations.
Vancouver’s pre-season schedule resumes on Sept. 17th when the Canucks visit the Anaheim Ducks before playing the San Jose Sharks the following day.
The Canucks will play four of their final six exhibition games at GM Place, prior to the start of the regular season on October 1st.
The training camp schedule is still subject to change.
