Canucks Report - Coming out, coming in

by Staff Writer / Vancouver Canucks

Sami Salo joined his team in Chicago late Tuesday night after initially staying in Vancouver for treatment on a lower body injury.

Salo skated on his own in Vancouver before traveling to Chicago but there is confirmation on whether he is set to return for Thursday's game four.

Salo didn't take part in Wednesday's practice at the United Center, but he did take part in off ice workouts with Vancouver's training staff.

This is good news for the Canucks, who primarily played with five defencemen in their 3-1 win against the Blackhawks. Ossi Vaananen replaced Salo on the blueline, playing just 8:47, compared to the 17:28 that Salo averages this post-season.

Salo has 6 points (3-3-6) in five playoff games this year and two of his three goals have been game-winners.

It was reported yesterday that Pavol Demitra is expected to be out the rest of the series with an undisclosed injury. He also opted out of Wednesday's on ice session, yet remains with the team in Chicago.

With Demitra out, Taylor Pyatt slotted into the lineup Tuesday and led Vancouver in shots with four. Pyatt is expected to continue playing on a line with Steve Bernier and Kyle Wellwood.
