Of course it is.
Jacob Markstrom sustained a lower-body injury late in practice Tuesday and did not travel with the Canucks to Calgary. Richard Bachman was recalled Tuesday evening and joined the team at 1 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Bachman was in Utica when he got the call; he kissed his wife and six-month-old and was out the door.
“That’s the life,” he laughed after Vancouver’s morning skate Wednesday. “I’m happy to be here and ready if needed.”
Bachman will back-up Ryan Miller in the season opener and if the 28-year-old is pressed into action, he brings a 17-14-2 record from 42 NHL games with Edmonton and Dallas with him.
Coach Willie Desjardins could not elaborate on Markstrom’s injury as the extent of it has not been determined. Markstrom will be evaluated today and a timetable for his return will be know shortly.
