Canucks recall Michael Grabner

Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks General Manager Mike Gillis announced today that right wing Michael Grabner has been recalled from the Manitoba Moose of the AHL.


Grabner, 21, has appeared in 47 games with Manitoba this season, posting 33 points (21-12-33). He ranks tied for first on the team in goals scored (21) and sixth on the team in points (33).

The Villach, Austria native was also asked to serve on Austria in the Olympic Qualifying tournament, played from February 5-8, 2009. Grabner appeared in three games where he led his team in scoring with five goals.

The 6’1”, 177 lbs. forward was originally drafted by Vancouver in the first round, 14th overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
