Canucks Recall Alex Edler
by Staff Writer / Vancouver CanucksVancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks Senior Vice President and General Manager Dave Nonis announced today that defenceman Alexander Edler has been recalled from the Manitoba Moose of the AHL.
Edler, 21, has registered one point (0-1-1) in two games played for the Manitoba Moose in the 2007-08 season. The 6’3”, 222-pound defenceman also played in five pre-season games for the Canucks in 2007, recording three points (2-1-3) and six penalty minutes.
In 2006-07, Edler split the season between the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose. In 22 NHL games, Edler recorded one goal and two assists. The Ostersund, Sweden native recorded 26 points (5-21-26) and 28 penalty minutes in 49 games for the Moose.
Edler was originally drafted by the Vancouver Canucks, 91st overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
