Vancouver, BC - Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the club has re-signed centre Michael Chaput to a one-year, one-way contract at $687,500.

Chaput, 25, recorded nine points in 68 games in his first year with the Canucks. He set career highs in goals (4), assists (5), points (9) and games played (68) in 2016.17. He also hit the 100 career NHL game milestone on Feb. 9 at Columbus.
Prior to joining the Canucks, Chaput played three seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets. He has accumulated 17 points (6-11-17) over the span of 126 career NHL games with Vancouver and Columbus.
In 2015.16, Chaput tallied 45 points (16-29-45) in 63 regular season games with Lake Erie in the American Hockey League. He added eight points (2-6-8) in 17 playoff games as part of the Calder Cup winning Lake Erie Monsters.
In junior, the Ile Bizard, Quebec native won the Stafford Smythe Trophy as the Memorial Cup MVP when he was a member of the Memorial Cup winning Shawinigan Cataractes in 2012.
The 6-2, 202-pound centre first signed with Vancouver as a free agent on July 1, 2016.
