by Staff Writer / Vancouver Canucks

Vancouver, B.C. – The Vancouver Canucks in conjunction with the National Hockey League and their national television partners announced today that the Canucks will appear on national television 24 times during the 2010.11 season. The Vancouver Canucks and Rogers Sportsnet will announce the Vancouver Canucks 2010.11 regional television schedule at a later date.

The Canucks first appearance on national television will be on CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada on October 9th when they play host to the Los Angeles Kings in their home opener at Rogers Arena. This game will mark the 40th anniversary to the day that the Canucks played their first NHL game against the Los Angeles Kings and, as a tribute, the Canucks will don the original sweater from the 1970-71 season. The home opener will be the debut of the season-long 40th anniversary celebration where the Canucks will celebrate ‘40 Years of the Game We Love’ through a number of unique initiatives at every home game for the 2010-11 season.

In total the Canucks play 14 games that will be broadcast on Hockey Night in Canada and an additional ten games that will air on TSN. Two pre-season games will also be featured on national television: Saturday, September 25 versus Anaheim at 7:00pm PST on CBC and Wednesday, September 29 at San Jose at 7:30pm PST on TSN.

The Canucks national television schedule includes a 7:00 pm (PT) start time at Rogers Arena when the Canucks will retire Markus Naslund’s number 19 and host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday, December 11th. The club’s national television schedule concludes on Saturday, April 9th at the Calgary Flames on Hockey Night in Canada.

The Canucks complete broadcast schedule, outlining games on Roger Sportsnet Pacific, Rogers Sportsnet ONE, TSN and CBC will be announced in the near future. Every Canucks game, including pre-season, can be heard on Team 1040 AM Sports Radio.
