Vancouver, B.C. – The Vancouver Canucks announced today that the club is launching several playoff initiatives for their fans. The 2010 Playoffs are presented by Save-On-Foods Pharmacy and initiatives include exclusive Canucks.com playoff content, the ever popular Playoff Towels, and the Party on the Plaza, presented by Global BC, which will take place prior to the start of every home game weather permitting.
"We are asking fans to plan for transit, cabs, or designate a driver, and celebrate responsibly,” said Harvey Jones, Vice President and General Manager Arena Operations for Canucks Sports & Entertainment. “The NHL playoff hockey experience is remarkable. It is our hope that Canucks fans everywhere will be enthusiastic and wear Canucks team colours but will do so safely and with respect for their fellow fan."
To help promote a safe playoff campaign, the Vancouver Canucks and Aramark Sports & Entertainment have teamed up to encourage the use of designated drivers. Prior to the conclusion of the first period intermission of every Canucks playoff game, guests at least 19 years of age with a valid driver’s license, may sign a pledge to be a designated driver for their group. Designated drivers will receive a coupon for one free soft drink and are eligible for a prize draw which will be conducted during the third period of each game. Eligible guests may sign up at the Guest Services Centre at Section 114 on the Plaza Level 100 and Section 310 on the Telus Level 300. Upon sign-up, the designated driver pledges to not drink alcohol at the game and provide responsible transportation for all members of their group.
Fans attending playoff games at General Motors Place are encouraged to wear Canucks colours and to arrive early to take part in the Canucks Party on the Plaza on the North Plaza beginning two hours prior to each home game, weather permitting. The Party on the Plaza, presented by Global BC, will feature opportunities for fans to meet Canucks alumni, play Canucks trivia to win great prizes, have their faces painted and engage in a number of other activities. The first 1000 fans will also be able to enjoy complimentary Sizzlin’ Smokies courtesy of Grimm's and Save-On-Foods, as well as complimentary Coca-Cola beverages and Van Houtte coffee. Fans are encouraged to show their support of the team by wearing official Canucks playoff merchandise, available at the Canucks Team Store, accessible outside from Gate 6. Throughout the playoffs, fans are encouraged to visit canucks.com for exclusive coverage including photo galleries, post-game coverage, live-streaming of all home Canucks practices and afternoon post-game Playoff Shows. The Playoff Show, presented by Rhino.ca will stream at 2 p.m. following every playoff game and will include special guests, game analysis, fan interaction and more.
Additionally, every fan attending each home playoff game at General Motors Place, will receive a Playoff Towel courtesy of Save-On-Foods Pharmacy, Sports Action Props, Molson Canadian, BC Hydro, Global BC, The Province, Team 1040 and The Beat 94.5. Towels are also available throughout the Lower Mainland at participating Save-On-Foods Pharmacy locations or at the Canucks Team Store while supplies last. See in-store for details.
Canucks playoff tickets are available through Ticketmaster Charge-By-Phone at 604.280.4400 or online at ticketmaster.ca/canucks. Other options available for fans to secure Canucks playoff home game tickets are to sign up for the Last Minute Tickets Club to receive email notices when tickets are released for purchase (canucks.com/lastminute) or check Ticketmaster regularly within 48 hours of game day up until puck-drop for ticket releases. For hospitality suite availability, fans can call 604.899.GOAL (press #2) for remaining suite options. A limited number of tickets and suites are currently available for Games 1 and 2.
