Canucks launch playoff initiatives

Vancouver, B.C. – The Vancouver Canucks announced today that the club is launching several playoff initiatives for their fans. The 2009 Playoffs are presented by Save-On-Foods Pharmacy and initiatives include exclusive playoff content, the ever popular Playoff Towels, and the Party on the Plaza, presented by Global BC, which will take place prior to the start of every home game weather permitting. The playoff initiatives will provide fans with opportunities to celebrate responsibly throughout the playoffs.

"We are asking fans to plan for transit, cabs, or designate a driver, and celebrate responsibly,” said Harvey Jones, Vice President and General Manager Arena Operations for General Motors Place. “The NHL playoff hockey experience is remarkable. It is our hope that Canucks fans everywhere will cheer loudly and wear Canucks team colours but will do so safely and with respect for their fellow fan."

Fans attending playoff games at General Motors Place are encouraged to wear Canucks colours and to arrive early to take part in the Canucks Party on the Plaza on the North Plaza beginning two hours prior to each home game. The Party on the Plaza, presented by Global BC, will feature music by Dr Strangelove, complimentary hot dogs courtesy of Grimm's and Save-On-Foods, as well as complimentary Coca-Cola beverages and Van Houtte Coffee, to the first 1000 fans. Face painting and a number of other activities will also be available. Fans are encouraged to show their support of the team by wearing official Canucks playoff merchandise, available at the Canucks Team Store. Throughout the Playoffs, fans are encouraged to visit for exclusive coverage including live-streaming of all home Canucks practices as well as afternoon post-game Playoff Shows streaming at 3 p.m. following every playoff game.

Additionally, 20,000 towels will be distributed for each home Playoff game at General Motors Place, courtesy of Save-On-Foods, Sports Action,, Global BC, The Province, Team 1040 and The Beat. Towels are also available at Save-On-Foods Pharmacy or at the Canucks Team Store for $5.

Fans looking to secure tickets for Canucks home playoff games are encouraged to check or Ticketmaster regularly within 48 hours of game day up until puck-drop as a select number of tickets may be released for purchase. A limited number of tickets are currently available for Games 1 and 2.
