The Utica Comets inched closer to securing a playoff spot thanks to some stellar play from Alex Grenier, while Brock Boeser and Thatcher Demko get ready for the Frozen Four on Thursday.


Brock Boeser and North Dakota had the week off as they prepare for their NCAA Frozen Four semifinal game against Denver on Thursday night at 5:30pm PT. A win and they will pay for the NCAA championship on Saturday.

Alex Friesen’s picked up a point in all four games this past week, finishing with two goals and two helpers. Friesen has 11 points (4-7-11) in his past 16 games. Look for him to continue his strong play down the stretch as he tends to ramp it up at this time of year.

Alex Grenier had himself a week, posting seven points (2-5-7) in four games. Grenier was named the First Star in Friday’s win over Springfield after scoring once and setting up two others. Since the end of January, he has 26 points (9-17-26) in 23 games.

Joseph Labate tallied the first multi-goal game of his professional career as he found the back of the net twice in the first period on Saturday. He added another goal on Sunday to give him his first goal scoring streak of the season. Labate has recorded eight points (4-4-8) in his past 12 games.

Mike Zalewski returned to the lineup on Tuesday after being out of action since March 4. He opened the scoring for the Comets with a shorthanded tally in the third period, while finishing the week with a goal and assist in four games. Zalewski was a frequent visitor to the sin bin on Saturday, as he picked up five minor penalties in the game.
