The Comets are red hot, winning five in a row, while the CHL Playoffs get underway on Thursday.


Darren Archibald had a busy weekend, posting two goals and registering 12 shots on goal in three games. The big winger is three goals away from setting a career high (12 in 2012-13).

Sven Baertschi only found the back of the net once in his first six games as a Comet, but exploded with four goals in three games this past weekend. He now has 10 points (5-5-10) in nine games since joining Utica.

Joacim Eriksson stopped 41-of-44 shots fired his way in two starts this past week, both victories. Eriksson stopped 20-of-22 in a win over Rochester on Friday, before stopping 21-of-22, while being named Third Star, in Sunday’s win over the same Rochester team.

Alex Friesen set up three goals on Saturday night, setting a career-high in assists in a single game. The three-point night gives him eight points (3-5-8) in his last nine games.
