Canucks Future Watch: 3.21.16

Adam Gaudette and Northeastern continue to roll, while Alex Friesen’s goal drought is no more. All this and more in the week that was for some Canucks prospects.


Brock Boeser extended his point streak to nine games with three assists in two games this past weekend as North Dakota was knocked out of the NCHC tournament in the semifinals. He has 18 points (6-12-18) during his current streak. Boeser and North Dakota will enter the NCAA tournament as the three seed, where they will take on Adam Gaudette and Northeastern in the first round on Friday. Thatcher Demko allowed five goals on 32 shots on Friday as Boston College was eliminated in the semifinals of the Hockey East tournament. Demko and Boston College will take on Harvard in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Friday. Demko was named the Hockey East Co-Player of the Year, as well as receiving some other accolades. Alex Friesen’s scored the lone goal of the game for the Comets in Saturday’s 5-1 loss to Albany. It was his first goal in 21 games, dating back to January 9.

Adam Gaudette netted two goals and a helper in two games this past weekend, helping Northeastern capture the Hockey East Championship. Gaudette had a goal and assist in Friday’s semifinal win over Thatcher Demko and Boston College, before opening the scoring in Saturday’s championship game against UMass-Lowell. Since January 1, Gaudette has 25 points (9-16-25) in 22 games. Northeastern, who is 20-1-2 in their last 23 games, will face Brock Boeser and North Dakota in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Friday.
