Canucks Future Watch: 3.15.16

Brock Boeser and Thatcher Demko helped their teams advance in post-season action, while Alex Grenier’s play as of late got him a call from Vancouver.


Brock Boeser shifted his attention from scoring goals to setting them up this past week as he registered five assists in a two-game sweep over Colorado College. North Dakota will now face off against Minnesota Duluth in the NCHC Frozen Faceoff semifinals.

Thatcher Demko picked up his NCAA leading 10th shutout of the season on Friday night, while stopping a combined 99-of-105 shots fired his way as Boston College topped Vermont two games to one in the Hockey East quarterfinals, including a thrilling Game 3 overtime victory. They will now face fellow Canucks prospect Adam Gaudette and Northeastern in a one-game semifinal on Friday night.

Brendan Gaunce was up with the Canucks this past week, appearing in two games and registering one shot on goal, while averaging just under 11 minutes of ice time per game. Gaunce was reassigned to Utica on Monday.

Alex Grenier had a solid week, grabbing a goal and three helpers in three outings, which gives him 18 points in his past 16 games and six points in his past four games. Grenier was recalled by the Canucks on Monday. He has appeared in one game this season with Vancouver as he made his NHL debut back in November against Winnipeg.
