Canucks Future Watch: 12.21.15

Brendan Gaunce had himself a week, while Alexandre Grenier moved into first place on the Comet’s all-time list.


Brock Boeser survived the first round of cuts with the USA World Junior team, which will need to trim down its roster from 24 to 23 by December 24. The 2015 first round pick should be a lock to make the squad, which will play Jake Virtanen and Team Canada in their opener on Boxing Day.

Brendan Gaunce had himself a big week, scoring four goals and setting up one other in three games. Gaunce has seven points (4-3-7) in six games since returning from injury earlier this month. His nine goals sit second on the Comets.

Hunter Shinkaruk was held off the scoresheet in his return from injury on Wednesday, but bounced back with a one-goal, three-assist effort on Friday in a win over Springfield. Shinkaruk leads the Comets in goals (12) and points (23).
