Brock Boeser captured bronze and Jordan Subban threw down, while Hunter Shinkaruk is off to the AHL All-Star Game. The week that was for Canucks prospects.


Brock Boeser and Team USA picked up the bronze medal to close out the 2016 World Juniors last week. Except him to make his return to the North Dakota lineup on Friday when they host Nebraska-Omaha.

Cole Cassels recorded his first multi-point game in the AHL, picking up a pair of assists in Sunday’s 6-3 loss to Hershey.

Thatcher Demko missed both games this past weekend with an “upper-body injury” and there is no timetable on his return just yet.

Alex Friesen scored his eighth goal of the season on Saturday night, while also registering five shots goal. Friesen was tossed from Sunday’s game after a third period fight with Hershey’s Chris Brown.

It has been a tough stretch for Brendan Gaunce, who has now gone five games without registering a point. He picked up just one shot on goal and was minus-3 in Sunday’s loss.

Much like Gaunce, Alex Grenier has hit a wall when it comes to producing offence, as he has gone five straight games without a point.

Ronalds Kenins was re-assigned to the Comets last week. He appeared in one game, registering four shots on goal on Friday night before missing the next two games with an undisclosed injury.

Hunter Shinkaruk scored his 14th and 15th goals of the season last weekend. The Comets’ top scorer was also named to the AHL All-Star Game, which takes place February 1.

Jordan Subban is now tied for second in points on the Comets after picking up a pair of helpers on Saturday night. He finished the week with 10 shots on goal in three games, while also picking up his first career AHL fighting major, taking on Hershey’s Nathan Walker. It was Subban’s first scrap since December 31, 2013 when he was in the OHL.
