Larry "King" Kwong, an NHL trailblazer, will be recognized pre-game with a video tribute outlining his story and impact on future generations. Kwong, a native of Vernon, B.C., became the first player of Asian heritage to play in the NHL on March 13, 1948 as a member of the New York Rangers when they took on the Montreal Canadiens. His hockey career began in British Columbia, playing for the Vernon Hydrophones and the Trail Smoke Eaters. His daughter, Kristina, will also be on hand for a ceremonial puck drop, on behalf of her father.
Prior to the game, the Canucks will sport a new look in warm-ups.
