Vancouver, B.C. - The Vancouver Canucks announced today details of the festivities when the Canucks celebrate Chinese New Year, during the game, presented by Tim Hortons on February 17 vs Boston.

Larry "King" Kwong, an NHL trailblazer, will be recognized pre-game with a video tribute outlining his story and impact on future generations. Kwong, a native of Vernon, B.C., became the first player of Asian heritage to play in the NHL on March 13, 1948 as a member of the New York Rangers when they took on the Montreal Canadiens. His hockey career began in British Columbia, playing for the Vernon Hydrophones and the Trail Smoke Eaters. His daughter, Kristina, will also be on hand for a ceremonial puck drop, on behalf of her father.
Prior to the game, the Canucks will sport a new look in warm-ups.
Developed in collaboration with Vancouver native and China based designer Charlie Chien
, each member of the Canucks will don a red Adidas jersey that combines elements of both Chinese and West Coast culture, including a stylized "year of the dog" patch. The set of player worn, warm up jerseys and other themed merchandise will be available in the Canucks team store, kiosks and
