Canucks assign Cody Hodgson to Manitoba

Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks General Manager Mike Gillis announced today that centre Cody Hodgson has been assigned to the Manitoba Moose of the AHL from the Brampton Battalion of the CHL.

Hodgson, 19, led the Brampton Battalion in scoring in 2008-09 with 92 points (43-49-92) in 53 games played. He led the Ontario Hockey League in game-winning goals (11) and established a club-record 23-game point streak (17-23-40). Hodgson also recorded 31 points (11-20-31) in 21 playoff games and appeared in the OHL Championship with the Battalion. He was named the 2008-09 OHL Most Outstanding Player for his accomplishments.

The Ontario native also had success on the international stage this year. Hodgson led Canada to a gold medal at the 2009 World Junior Championship at Ottawa. He led the tournament in scoring with 16 points (5-11-16) in six games played and was named to the tournament all-star team.
