VANCOUVER, B.C. – The Vancouver Canucks, in conjunction with General Motors of Canada, are proud to announce that Al Ellis of Coquitlam, British Columbia has won the 2009 Telethon Car Draw. Ellis will receive a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid courtesy of General Motors of Canada Limited.
The 19th annual Canucks for Kids Fund Telethon presented by Chevrolet raised more than $850,000 in donations and previous event acknowledgement funds for Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.
"I am a big Canucks fan and really appreciate what the team and players do for our community,” said Ellis. “I always enjoy watching the Sportsnet games and the Telethon. There is nothing better than that tie between athletes, children and charity.”
Canuck Place celebrates its 14th anniversary this year, offering specialized care for children with progressive life-threatening illnesses. This unique healthcare facility serves to enhance quality of life through comprehensive and family-centred care.
The Vancouver Canucks would like to extend their gratitude to all those who have donated to the CFKF Telethon, presented by Chevrolet, for their generous contributions. The Vancouver Canucks would also like to thank TELUS, their volunteers, Rogers Sportsnet and the TEAM 1040 and its CHUM affiliates.
The Canucks for Kids Fund dedicates resources to assist charities who support children’s health and wellness, foster the development of grassroots hockey, and facilitate and encourage education in British Columbia. Thanks to the generosity of our fans, donors, players, employees and sponsor partners, the CFKF has granted over $28 million to charities in British Columbia over the last two decades serving over 85 different organizations helping them to reach their goals.
