Boeser blog IV

by Brock Boeser / Vancouver Canucks
The end is near.

It’s weird. It feels like we just got here yesterday, but it also feels like we’ve been here for a month. Either way, one more day at Shawnigan Lake and we head to Vancouver Thursday.

First things first: Tuesday. Yesterday was a fun day filled with my some of my favourite things: hockey and a great meal. After we did a dynamic warm-up in the gym, we hit the ice to work on, well, pretty much everything. They have us working on a myriad of drills and again we all had an extra jump in our step thanks to the full stands of fans.

We had a bit of free time in the afternoon, so I just took it easy beat Jordan Subban in some pool, then watched some Prison Break. I’ve already watched it all, but it's a good show. I’m not much of a TV guy, I definitely can’t tell you what’s going on in Game of Thrones or whatever.

We played a 3-on-3 tournament to end the day and I have to give a shout out to all the fans who packed the arena. It was wild seeing them all along the glass and truly into the action.

I was on Team Medical, alongside Valk, Brisebois, Zhukenov, Lemcke, Caito and Subban and even thought we lost our first game, I never doubted us coming back to win in the end, and we did. It took a shootout to get it done; I scored on one of my two shots, no deke, just a straight shot. That’s more my style on a breakaway, a little fake maybe, then shoot it. Zhukenov scored to give us the win in the end.

Dinner was a special treat last night as we took part in the West Coast Barbecue Dinner, put on by Shawnigan Lake School. It was a charity event for Canucks Autism Network and Canucks for Kids Fund; the salmon was delicious. I really enjoyed meeting everyone, especially the couple from South Africa, we had a good hockey talk.

This morning we have our final skating session before we visit Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt; tomorrow’s blog should be great.
