Hey fans!
The smoke has pretty much cleared in Penticton; the sun was shining this weekend and wow, what a view! This is a gorgeous place and although I spent most of my Sunday inside the rink, I caught some rays from my balcony this morning.

I got to take advantage of the weather Saturday as Thatcher Demko, Griffen Molino and Cole Candella went and played golf at the Wow Golf Club. We played nine holes and I won. It was a fun time. Zack MacEwen, his dad and Mike Garteig were playing behind us and Zack's dad actually got hit by a golf ball, right in the back. He went down hard, but he's okay. He finished the round and they actually played another round afterwards. He's a trooper.
I finished my day eating pizza at Bad Tattoo before taking it easy Saturday night. There's a lot of hockey coming up in a hurry, so rest is key.
Today the schedule was bit different than normal because of the 2 p.m. game. We didn't have morning skate, meaning breakfast at 9:30, then I wasn't too sure what to do. THEN I REMEMBERED FOOTBALL WAS BACK! I watched for a few hours before changing gears to the game.
I had the first overall pick in my fantasy football draft this year and I took David Johnson, who hurt his wrist today. But he'll be okay - right? RIGHT?! Fantasy is such an obsession; it totally makes games like Cleveland vs. Baltimore fun to watch. I'm not sure if I'll win this week, it comes down to the Monday night games, but at least Green Bay won and I expect Minnesota will as well. I'm a fan of both - yes I know they're rivals in the same division - but my mom's family is diehard Packers hailing from Wisconsin, and my brother forced me to like the Vikings at a young age. And now here we are. Go everyone.
We've got one game remaining at the Young Stars Classic and I'm not sure if I'm playing or not. We've won one and lost one so far and played well at times and shown some areas that need improving as well. Personally, I've felt better every period played, which is all I was looking for to help head into camp in stride. One of the media guys asked me if trying to have a good showing at camp and make the Canucks is a distraction at Young Stars, but I don't think it is. I'm really focused on the now and I try to stay in the moment and not look too far ahead.
Now I'm going to have some dinner and watch some football tonight, then - you guessed it - get some sleep.
Talk tomorrow!
