2013 draft picks to join Young Stars in Penticton

Penticton, BC – The 2013 Young Stars Classic in Penticton, BC, beginning Thursday, September 5, 2013, will feature a number of notable prospects selected from the 2013 NHL Entry Draft by the Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, San Jose Sharks and Winnipeg Jets. The 2013 Draft selections will be joined by other top prospects within the participating teams’ organizations. Complete rosters will be released in August in advance of the Young Stars Classic.

The Canucks roster will include five picks from this year’s draft, including first round picks Bo Horvat (ninth overall) and Hunter Shinkaruk (24th). The two first-round draft picks will be joined by fellow Canucks draftees Cole Cassels (85th), Jordan Subban (115) and Miles Liberati (205th).

The Calgary Flames have confirmed plans to include all three of their first round draft selections from the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, including Sean Monahan (sixth overall), Emile Poirier (22nd) and Morgan Klimchuk (28th). Joining the three first round picks are Flames 2013 draftees Keegan Kanzig (67th) and Eric Roy (135th).

The Edmonton Oilers have also committed to bring this year’s first round draft pick, Darnell Nurse to the Young Stars Classic. Joining Nurse are Oilers 2013 draft picks Marc-Olivier Roy (56th), Jackson Houck (94th), Kyle Platzer (96th) and Ben Betker (158th).

The San Jose Sharks 18th overall draft selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Mirco Mueller, is also slated to dress for the Sharks squad along with fellow 2013 draft pick Gabryel Boudreau (49th).

The Winnipeg Jets contingency is slated to include this year’s 13th overall pick Josh Morrissey along with fellow 2013 selections Nicolas Petan (43rd), Eric Comrie (59th), Jimmy Lodge (84th), JC Lipon (91st), Jan Kostalek (114th) and Brenden Kichton (190th).

Tournament ticket packages, which include a ticket to eight tournament games, are $70 plus applicable fees and are on sale now. Single game tournament tickets will go on sale in August.
