The 2016-17 season marks Fred Steer's 35th year as a member of the Montreal Canadiens management team. As Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Fred is responsible for all financial matters as well as human resources for the Club de Hockey Canadien Inc., and the Bell Centre and also supervises all aspects of the Club's Finance Department.
Fred, who first joined the Montreal Canadiens organization in 1982 as Vice President Finance and Administration serves as Alternate Governor of the National Hockey League and is a Director of the NHL Pension Society. In 1986, when the Montreal Canadiens earned their 23rd Stanley Cup championship,
Fred's name was etched on the celebrated award.
A Montreal native, Fred Steer attended McGill University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce in accounting and received his designation as a Chartered Accountant in 1974.
