MONTREAL – The Canadiens signed forward Alex Galchenyuk to a XX-year contract on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old is coming off a career year in 2014-15. In his third season in the NHL ranks, Galchenyuk set multiple career-highs, amassing 20 goals, 46 points and 163 shots on goal in 80 regular season games, before chipping in with one goal and four points in 12 playoff outings. His lone playoff tally lifted the Canadiens to a 3-2 overtime victory over the Ottawa Senators in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals.
Galchenyuk boasts 42 goals and 104 points in 193 career NHL games. He was selected in the first round, third overall by the Canadiens in 2012.
