MONTREAL - The downtick in goals scored allowed Canadiens prospects Kaiden Guhle and Jan Mysak to display their defensive value.

Slovakia 1 - Canada 3
Even though the score remained 1-0 through 50 minutes of play, Canada managed to keep Slovakia at bay on their way to a 3-1 win.
2020 first-round pick Kaiden Guhle was the fourth busiest defenceman on his team, playing a little over 17 minutes, including more than seven minutes of ice time in the third period.
In addition to his stalwart defensive play, the Canadiens prospect directed three shots on net, the top mark among Canadian defencemen.
Czech Republic 2 - Russia 0
The Czech Republic caused a stir in the other game featuring a Canadiens prospect, securing a relatively surprising 2-0 win over Russia.
Though he was held off the scoresheet, captain Jan Mysak once again led by example.
His hard work paid off in the first period when his furious backcheck put him in a position to break up a Russian 2-on-1. His strong effort allowed him to intercept the pass, thus putting an end to a prime scoring chance for the Russians.
He took two shots in 16:35 of ice time, which included both Czech goals.
Today's Program
There are only two games on the docket today, neither of which involve a Canadiens prospect.
However, we will see two prospects faceoff on Tuesday, when Cole Caufield and the United States take on Mysak and the Czech Republic.
Guhle will take part in his third game of the tournament when Canada plays Switzerland.
