Sweden defeats Belarus 5-0, while Germany loses to Denmark in a shootout

MONTREAL - Here's a recap of all the action on Day 1 of the World Hockey Championship in Denmark.

Canada vs. USA
Charlie Lindgren did not play as the United States defeated Canada 5-4 in a shootout. Keith Kinkaid was the starter, while Cam Atkinson scored the game-winner for the Americans.
Sweden vs. Belarus
Jacob de la Rose was held off the scoresheet as Sweden opened up the tournament with a 5-0 win over Belarus.
The 22-year-old registered two shots on net in 10:56 of ice time.
Lias Andersson, Gustav Nyquist, Mattias Janmark, Rickard Rakell, and Mika Zibanejad scored for the Swedes.
Germany vs. Denmark
Markus Eisenschmid was also held off the scoresheet in Germany's 3-2 shootout loss to Denmark. The game-winning goal for the hosts came from Frans Nielsen.
