Player to watch: Brent Burns: The 30-year-old defenseman has eleven points in his last twelve games for a total of 23 points in 29 games this season with the Sharks.

The Pacific Division leading Los Angeles Kings suffered their first and only loss in the month of December, falling 2-1 to the Sabres in Buffalo Saturday night. 

Player to watch: Jeff Carter: Jeff Carter, the Kings’ scoring leader with 26 points in 29 games, recently had his seven-game point streak snapped against Pittsburgh on Friday night.

After failing to secure a playoff spot in 2014-15, the Dallas Stars have had quite the turnaround this season. The Western Conference leading Stars have been a force in 2015-16 with a record of 22-6-2.

Player to watch: John Klingberg: The Swedish rearguard sits in second place behind Erik Karlsson for the NHL scoring lead amongst defensemen with 30 points in 30 games.
