Shea Weber

VANCOUVER -- Currently sidelined with a foot injury, defenseman Shea Weber was sent home to Montreal on Monday to be reevaluated by medical staff.

The 32-year-old will be absent for an undetermined period of time.
The injury is the same one which kept Weber away from the ice for seven games in November. The B.C. native returned to action on Dec. 2, but his situation has not improved since then, confirmed head coach Claude Julien following Monday's practice at Rogers Arena.

"Shea has a nagging foot injury. It had improved to the point that he was ready to return, but then it got worse and we had to send him back to Montreal. We'll keep him off the ice until we figure out what's going on," explained the 57-year-old.
"It's a long season, and it's the type of injury that he couldn't continue playing with. We'll manage it properly over the next couple of days and weeks."
Weber registered 16 points -- including six goals -- in 26 games with the Canadiens this season, and was the team's most utilized player averaging 25:20 of ice time per night.
