MONTREAL - Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced on Friday that the team has agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension with forward Ryan Poehling (until the end of the 2022-23 season).

For the first season, Poehling's two-way deal will see him earn $750,000 in the NHL and $225,000 in the AHL, while he will receive $750,000 for the second year (NHL, one-way).
Poehling, 22, led all Rocket players with 25 points in 28 games last season. The 6'2'' and 197 lbs forward set career-highs in goals (11), assists (14) and points in the AHL in his second professional campaign. He ended the year with a plus-5 differential. Poehling boasts 38 points (16 goals, 22 assists) in 64 career games with Laval. He has also appeared in 28 career NHL games with Montreal, scoring four goals, adding an assist, and serving four penalty minutes.
Selected 25th overall by the Canadiens in the 2017 NHL Draft, Poehling was a member of Team USA at the 2018 and 2019 World Junior Hockey Championships. The Lakeville, MN native was named both Tournament MVP and Best Forward at the 2019 event, helping the Americans earn a silver medal. He registered eight points (5 goals, 3 assists) in seven games.
