MONTREAL - Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes announced on Friday that the team has agreed to terms on a two-year, one-way contract extension with forward Michael Pezzetta (2023-24 to 2024-25) which carries an average annual value of $812,500.

Pezzetta scored seven goals and eight assists in 63 games with the Canadiens in 2022-23. The Toronto, ON native led the team in hits with 239 and his 77 penalty minutes put him first among Habs forwards in that category.

He set career-highs in games played, goals, assists, and points this past season.

In 112 career NHL games, the 6-foot-1 and 210-pound winger registered 26 points (12 goals, 14 assists).

Selected in the sixth round by the Canadiens (160th overall) in the 2016 NHL Draft, Pezzetta made his NHL debut on November 2, 2021 against the Detroit Red Wings.
