MONTREAL - Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes announced today that the team has agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension (2022-23 to 2023-24) with defenseman Chris Wideman.

Wideman, 32, tallied 27 points (four goals, 23 assists) in 64 games with the Canadiens in 2021-22 after signing a one-year contract on July 28, 2021.
The 5-foot-10, 180 lbs rearguard has amassed 20 goals and 52 helpers in 245 career NHL games with the Ottawa Senators, Edmonton Oilers, Florida Panthers and Canadiens.
Wideman was selected in the fourth round (100th overall) by the Senators at the 2009 NHL draft.
