Lauded for his solid defensive play and sweet scoring touch, Nathan Beaulieu is also known around the hockey world for his ability to chirp with the best of them on Twitter. The Canadiens first-round pick has always had the “Gift of the Gab” and now thanks to the ubiquitous social media platform, he has a bigger audience than ever to help fans get to know him off the ice – 140 characters at a time. We caught up with Habs prospect/Twitter sensation @n8THEggr8 to get the skinny on his personal tweeting style.
Who convinced you to join the Twittersphere:
Stephen MacAulay (@smacaulay9) introduced me to Twitter. We used to play together with the Saint John Sea Dogs. He was one of the first guys I knew who was on it and he kind of got me hooked.
How often do you go on Twitter daily:
It depends on the day. If I’m bored or if it’s a relaxed day, I’m usually on it a good amount. It’s a little harder when you have longer days in the gym or if you have to go talk to the media, but I usually catch up on it.
Name your three favorite athletes to follow on Twitter:
Paul Bissonnette (@BizNasty2point0), Chad Johnson (@Ochocinco) and Brian McGrattan (@bigern10).
Name someone you follow on Twitter that would surprise people:
Nicki Minaj (@NICKIMINAJ) and Taylor Swift (@taylorswift13), that’s all I got. I’m pretty up to date with everyone I follow!
Which of your teammates would you most like to see join Twitter:
It seems like everyone’s on it these days. But I’d say Jarred Tinordi; I think he’d be funny on there. He’s not really into it but I’ll try to convince him!
How about a celebrity you’d like to see join Twitter:
I don’t really know, but I’d love to see Patrick Kane (@88PKane) tweeting more. He’s my favorite player. He has an account but I’d like to see more of him.
What’s the weirdest Tweet you’ve ever received from one of your followers:
Probably a marriage proposal – I got a couple of them. Those are always interesting!
