When Morgan Ellis was drafted in 2010, most Habs fans would have had a hard time picking him out of a lineup. That’s probably not the case anymore. Over the past year, Ellis proved himself as one of the most complete defensemen in the QMJHL, helped the hometown Shawinigan Cataractes hoist the Memorial Cup and become one of the team’s premiere prospects on Twitter. In just his first month in the pros, he’s already won over his new teammates in Hamilton – although he’s still working on shaking his Christian Bale doppleganger status. We caught up with @MorganEllis4 to get the scoop on his own personal tweeting style.
Who convinced you to join the Twittersphere:
My girlfriend, to tell you the truth. I didn’t want anything to do with it but she told me to check it out. It just took off from there.
How often do you go on Twitter daily:
Every so often. I’m on it every day, but I wouldn’t know how much time I spend on it every day.
Name your three favorite athletes to follow on Twitter:
I like following some of the Habs players like Josh Gorges (@jgorges26), Colby Armstrong (@armdog) and Brian Gionta (GioStyle21).
Which of your teammates would you most like to see join Twitter:
I’m going to convert Brendan Gallagher shortly! He doesn’t have it but I’m going to make sure that he’s on it. [Ed note: Brendan Gallagher has since joined Twitter as @BGALLY17]
How about a celebrity you’d like to see join Twitter:
No one in particular, it seems that everybody’s on it. I follow pretty much anybody: athletes, movie stars, celebrities.
Have you become friends with any of your followers in real life:
No, not really. You never know who you can meet on there!
What’s the weirdest Tweet you’ve ever received from one of your followers:
You get all sorts of them. That’s a good question. I couldn’t really think of only one in particular, but there have been a few!
