Brett Lernout

MONTREAL - From Gretzky to Crosby, and Lemieux to Lafleur, every NHLer has envied at least one aspect of another player's game over the course of their career. With that in mind, we asked defenseman Brett Lernout to build his Ultimate Player based on a list of several highly-coveted hockey-related characteristics.

VISION: PATRIK LAINE
On the power play and just coming through the neutral zone, he's dangerous. He isn't the fastest player, but he sees everything. He can make those plays anywhere on the ice.

Patrik-Laine

HANDS: SIDNEY CROSBY
He's one of the best in the world. His hands are really silky. He's shifty, too.

SPEED: CARL HAGELIN
There are a lot of fast players in the NHL. It's tough to choose. I'm going to go with Carl, though. That guy can buzz. He's really fast.

Carl-Hagelin

STRENGTH: SIDNEY CROSBY
He's not the biggest guy, but at the same time, his center of gravity is unbelievable. He just gets low and he can just hold you off. He can hold off bigger guys. It's pretty crazy. I remember going in the corner with him and he stuck his arm out to hold me off.

Sidney-Crosby

SHOT: SHEA WEBER
He's got a heavy shot. He's massive. He can really rip the puck.

HEART: HENRIK ZETTERBERG
He's been around in the League for a long, long time. He plays hard every single night.
