The Numbers Game: September 24, 2015

by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens
MONTREAL – Here's a numerical look at Thursday night's preseason game between the Habs and the Capitals in Montreal.

16 – Number of Habs who made their preseason debuts on Thursday opposite the Capitals, after previously sitting out Tuesday’s preseason opener against Toronto. Among the Canadiens who suited up against opposition for the first time in 2015-16 were Andrei Markov, P.K. Subban, Alex Galchenyuk, and David Desharnais.

5 – Number of Habs who pulled on the Canadiens sweater for the first time on Thursday, as Brett Lernout, Connor Crisp, Mike Condon and former Capitals Alexander Semin and Tomas Fleischmann each took part in their first preseason contests in Montreal.

2 – Number of points registered by Fleischmann in his Bell Centre debut, as the 31-year-old forward – currently in Montreal on a professional tryout – made a case for a more permanent spot on the Canadiens roster with a goal and an assist.

0:12 – Number of seconds it took Fleischmann to reduce the Capitals’ short-lived two-goal lead in the first period back to just one, scoring almost right off the faceoff following T.J. Oshie’s marker.

13 – Number of penalties handed out over the span of the second period, as the Habs and Caps each had some discipline issues to iron out on Thursday night.

9 – Number of penalty minutes racked up by McCarron over just two second-period shifts, as the six-foot-six forward got called for combined slashing and roughing minors, one five-minute fighting major, as well as a 10-minute game misconduct.
