The Numbers game - March 25, 2010

by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens
MONTREAL – Here’s a numerical look at the match-up between the Habs and Panthers at the Bell Centre on Thursday night.

48 – Games played for the Panthers this season by Dominic Moore before he was acquired by the Canadiens just prior to the trade deadline in exchange for a second round pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
9 – Draft round in which both Jaroslav Halak and Tomas Vokoun were drafted by the Canadiens, with the Habs starter having been plucked 271st overall in 2003 and the Panthers’ netminder on Thursday being chosen 226th by Montreal back in 1994.

8 – Years since Travis Moen wore a visor in a game, with the rugged winger having last done so with the WHL's Kelowna Rockets before being obliged to sport one against the Panthers on Thursday night following the 50-stitch gash he suffered versus the Senators on Monday night.

5 – Number of shots blocked by Tomas Plekanec in the outing, with the speedy center also chipping in and notching the empty net insurance marker – the 100th of his career – with two minutes to go in the game.

6 – Points piled up by Andrei Markov against the Panthers this season, twice as many points as the Habs d-man has amassed against any other team in 2009-10.

3 – Number of Habs-Panthers games played at the Bell Centre since 2003-04 that have ended with more than a two goal margin. The 10 other match-ups between the two teams since then have been decided by just a single goal.

0 – NHL teams with an all-time winning record against the Canadiens, now that the Panthers went 1-3 versus Montreal this season to drop their career record against the Habs to 27-28-6-2 since joining the NHL in 1993-94.
